Asked Questions. FAQ!
1300 Spider
Junior
The body trim, interior and instruments
The
1300 Junior incorporated several differences in body trim.
Most notables were the replacement of Perspex headlamp
fairings by simple chrome bezels around the headlamps. The
side repeater flashers were repositioned from behind the front
wheels to a location forward of them. Rear side indicators
(new)?
Other minor changes included
the lower front bumpers (painted black rather than chrome/steel),
the quarter-lights (fixed rather than swivelling) and the
chrome badge on the boot-lid under the Alfa Romeo badge (which
read ‘1300 Junior’).
Generally speaking the 1300
Junior shared most of the changes of the 1750 Spider Veloce
inside the cabin. One important exception was the steering
wheel: unlike the new wood-rim wheel in the 1750, the Junior
had a plastic-rimmed wheel similar in design to that of the
old Duetto’s, but with only two metal spokes; each of these
had a black horn push set into it.
Other minor differences were
the old-style smaller ashtray (but with no cigar lighter
fitted), black rather than chrome dipping rear-view mirror
surround and redesigned seats with no tilt knob.

The only major difference on the dashboard
between a Junior and a 1750 was the rev counter, which was
redlined at 5750rpm (rather than 6300rpm OR 5600rpm?) –
although on certain publicity shots the 6300rpm redline rev
counter is shown in the Junior. There was also no low-pressure
oil-warning lamp between the main dials.
